Intensive EMDR Trauma Therapy in Bremen

EMDR intensive sessions provide the opportunity to process difficult experiences in a protected and continuous therapeutic environment.

Unlike short weekly appointments, these sessions allow for several uninterrupted hours of work, creating space to explore memories, emotional patterns, and interconnected themes deeply and safely.

You might find this approach particularly helpful because it allows you to fully immerse yourself in the therapeutic process without starting anew each week. In my Bremen practice, I offer EMDR intensive therapy for trauma, stress, and emotional processing, tailored to your pace and needs.

What is an EMDR Intensive Session?

An EMDR intensive session is an extended therapeutic session in which we work together over several hours using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Compared to traditional weekly sessions, this format creates a continuous therapeutic process with more space for:

Emotional stabilization

Processing distressing memories

Integration of emotional experiences

The longer time frame allows for a calmer and more continuous exploration of these issues.

What Happens During an Intensive EMDR Session?

During an intensive session, we may:

explore a central theme or traumatic experience in depth

process several interconnected memories

better understand and work through recurring emotional patterns

The focus develops naturally throughout the session, based on your needs and responses.

Why an EMDR Intensive Format Can Be Helpful

Entering a deeper therapeutic process in weekly sessions can sometimes be difficult due to time constraints.

An intensive EMDR session provides uninterrupted time for exploration, processing, and integration, allowing emotional and cognitive patterns to be addressed more effectively.

Benefits of a Longer Time Frame

A longer session can help to:

continue the therapeutic process without frequent interruptions

give emotional experiences the attention and space they need

see connections between different memories and experiences more clearly

Research and clinical experience, especially from the United States, suggest that intensive EMDRtherapy often leads to deeper processing, faster stabilization, and meaningful progress. Clients report they can address issues more thoroughly than in weekly short sessions.

At all times, a mindful pace and your emotional stability remain central to the work.

Typical Structure of an EMDR Intensive Day in Bremen

Preparation session
We discuss your goals and topics in advance and explore whether an intensive EMDR session is suitable for you. This free consultation is held online.

Therapeutic sessions during the intensive day
We work over several hours on your experiences, both individual memories and interconnected themes.

Breaks are included to support emotional integration and nervous system regulation.

Lunch break and integration
The lunch break is an integral part of the intensive day. In a calm setting in a nearby restaurant, we reflect on the work so far and integrate insights. You may also spend this time quietly on your own if preferred.

Closing and stabilization
At the end of the day, we finalize the process, focus on stabilization, and ensure you return to your daily life feeling grounded and clear.
Each person works on their own experiences using EMDR-based bilateral stimulation techniques.

Sharing personal details is not required — privacy and personal boundaries are fully respected. Working in a small group can feel supportive while maintaining focus on your own process.

About Me

After several years of successful work as a mental coach, primarily using the wingwave® method, I decided to obtain a professional license as a licensed psychotherapist (Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie), which allows me to offer deeper and longer-term therapeutic support.

My methods include talk therapy, systemic counselling, and EMDR, especially for successful grief and trauma processing. EMDR has personally helped me navigate a traumatic loss in my past, allowing me to rediscover joy and live consciously. I have learned firsthand how to transform deep despair into positive growth.

As an expat myself, I have extensive experience working with other expats living and working in Germany. I understand the unique challenges of adapting to a new culture while managing personal and professional pressures, and I bring this insight into my practice.

I approach you with empathy, understanding, and genuine interest. My focus is on solution-oriented work: after addressing negative experiences and emotions, I emphasize resource activation so that you can restore balance through positive experiences.

I was born and raised in Italy. After my studies and gaining professional experience, I moved to Bremen for work, where I have now lived for over 20 years. Thanks to my language skills, I can conduct therapy and coaching in multiple languages, including Italian, French, and English.

Cecilia Arri – Wingwave Coaching Award Winner 2021

I was honored to receive the Wingwave Coaching Award in 2021 for my successful use of the wingwave® method, a powerful approach that promotes rapid stress reduction, boosts creativity, and strengthens conflict resilience.

In my therapy and coaching sessions, I selectively incorporate elements of wingwave®, particularly to support clients facing anxiety or performance-related stress. This method, developed over 20 years ago as EMDR adapted for coaching, allows for practical and effective results in both personal and professional contexts.

What my clients say about me

Ayshe

I discovered EMDR through Cecilia and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Even online, we quickly built a relationship of trust and warmth that allowed me to revisit old patterns I hadn’t realized were still influencing my decisions today.

I was able to work through topics I never would have thought could still be holding me back. Highly recommended.

Viktoria

I want to express my gratitude for the work of Cecilia, an EMDR therapist and trauma specialist. Her empathy is genuine and profound, and she always manages to create a warm, welcoming environment where I immediately feel at ease.

She has a rare ability to identify what truly matters, the points that bring clarity and help shift negative thoughts. Her presence is reassuring, her listening attentive, and her insights have had an extremely positive impact on me.

A truly valuable professional whom I wholeheartedly recommend.
